Transition

So I'm in Geneva. And it really is beautiful. Originally, I asked the ngo I'm interning for to be placed in their China office. But I can hardly speak Mandarin, so that was a no-go. Plus, they needed more help in their headquarters. So, I conceded and said, "Fiiiiine, I'll go to Geneva."

You all were right. I have fallen in love with Europe...the way of life, and the way people embrace life. And really live it and value their time outside of work. Americans (especially New Yorkers) would find it even 'lazy' perhaps. Yet, somehow Switzerland ranks highest in per capita of wealth, is ranked in the top 10 of The Economist's Democracy Index [what's the world's least democratic country? drum roll please....North Korea. *gasp*], and is probably the most efficient country on earth.

I have to admit though, I already miss the grit of New York and New Yorkers. But for now, I'm trying to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors and easy access to all things Europe. :)
